Malaparte, a restaurant in New York, is named after Curzio Malaparte, an Italian journalist, dramatist, short-story writer and novelist.

When we met with the owners to brainstorm about the logo, Chef and veteran New York City restaurateur Emanuele Attala and his long-time manager Sebastian Widmann, we were sitting at Malatesta, the sister restaurant located just a few blocks away. It was here that they used to bring out the checks with a wooden clothespin, the owners kept talking about their vision of the new sister restaurant, the idea was to create some sort of nemesis to the old one, something still genuine but more sophisticated. So we had the idea of the “black molletta” now an icon of the West Village.

The restaurant is located on a quiet corner in the far West Village. The cuisine is inspired by Rimini on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, classic dishes from the coast of Emilia Romagna.
